For coming hosts
The Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Electrolysis (ICE) is happy to invite potential new hosts and chairs for the future conferences. This is a brief guideline for potential new conference hosts on how to propose hosting a coming edition of the ICE.
Proposals and questions regarding hosting future editions of ICE can be directed to Jens Oluf Jensen jojen@dtu.dk.
Objectives of the conference
- to establish, maintain and develop a forum for exchange of scientific and technical aspects of electrolysis for energy conversion and production of chemicals.
- to accommodate all electrolyzer technologies and thus offer the opportunity for participants to get updated on other electrolyzer technologies than they address themselves.
- to be a truly international event attracting scientists, students and industry people from all over the world. Consequently, it is desired that the conference sites alternate between the continents, although no fixed order is defined.
- to facilitate excursions or site visits in connection with the events, when possible and meaningful.
Potential hosts and chairs are encouraged to present their plans in writing (or as a set of slides) and the points below are relevant to address. The list is meant as a checklist for inspiration and it is not mandatory to cover all points.
Location
- Where will the conference be held (country, city/town/…)
- How can the participants get there (train, airport, other public transport) and how can they get around locally (venue and accommodation)?
- Are there electrolysis activities in the country or area?
- Does the host have significant electrolysis activities?
- Is the chair/host well interconnected (known) to the local H2 scientific community?
- Are technologically relevant site visits possible and anticipated?
- Is the area attractive?
- Are the surroundings safe?
- Any geopolitical concerns?
Venue
- How big an audience can be hosted? Is the venue flexible with respect to increasing or decreasing the number of participants?
- Are there hotels nearby at moderate cost?
- How many can be accommodated at walking distance?
- How far from the closest international airport?
- How far from the closest H2 site of national significance?
- Intended kind structure the conference (parallel sessions, plenary, number of talks, poster sessions etc.)
When
- On which date or month is the conference planned?
- Any attention points regarding weather and season?
Cost
- What is the estimated cost of hotel rooms?
- What is the estimated conference fee?
- Is the fee including conference dinner and lunch/coffee?
- Are sponsorships anticipated?
- Any pre-existing financial or non-financial support from either local or international hydrogen industry?
- Any pre-existing financial or non-financial support from local government?
- Any pre-existing support from a local or international hydrogen related non-governmental agency or association?
- Can the host offer economic support/reduced rates for students or researchers from lower income countries?
